Companies use Long Distance DS3 Lines when they have a requirement for multiple T1s at a single location. The major cost advantage for DS3 or fractional DS3 usually comes at the point where more than 10 T1s are needed at a single location. Typically a DS3 connection is equal to or less than the cost of 10 T1 lines, but a DS3 provides the capacity of 28 T1s.
